Your apprenticeship journey
As an apprentice you will join us on our Service Desk, where you will be the first point of contact for our customers. After completing your Level 3 qualification you will have the opportunity to continue your career on the Service Desk or in another area of the business, or continue with a Level 4 apprenticeship in one of the following areas:
- Software Development – with exposure to the full development life cycle, learning how software projects are managed and how an agile software development team operates.
- Service Desk – acting as the first point of contact for our customers who are experiencing problems with their IT systems.
- Technical Operations Team – providing operational support for live and development systems.
- Contact Centre – handling inbound and outbound calls; supporting customers on a range of queries in addition to order processing and promotions.
What are we looking for from our apprentices?
As an apprentice with PCMS, you will be provided with on-the-job training and experiences which will allow you to put the skills you learn into practice. The career opportunities at PCMS are outstanding; depending on the area of the business you join, your apprenticeship can lead you to a career in areas such as software testing, development, 3rd line technical support; business analysis, service desk support or customer management. To be a successful apprentice at PCMS you should be enthusiastic and passionate about building a career in IT or customer services. You will be willing to learn and obtain qualifications whilst gaining real life work experience. You should be flexible and be able to adapt to a variety of business situations.
When will I start?
If successful at interview, applicants will be join one of our apprenticeship intakes, usually between September and February.
Where will I be working?
Successful candidates will be working at PCMS House, Torwood Close, Westwood Business Park, CV4 8HX. Apprentices would also attend off-the-job training with our apprenticeship training provider Digital Native.
What hours will I be working?
During the apprenticeship, you will work 37.5 hours per working, normally Monday to Friday.
Once the apprenticeship has been completed, apprentices work the standard hours for the job they are offered, this may include shift patterns, evening and weekend work.
Is there public transport to PCMS House?

How much will I be paid?

How long will the apprenticeship last?
A Level 3 apprenticeship will last approximately 12 months.
What will happen at the end of the apprenticeship?
As long as you have achieved the standards required during the apprenticeship, PCMS will look to offer you a permanent role or support you to continue with a Level 4 apprenticeship.
What qualifications do I need for the apprenticeship programme?
Successful candidates will normally have GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C and above). We would also welcome applicants who have completed A and AS levels, BTEC Nationals or NVQ3.
